This is a beautiful carseat. I purchased the Graco Safe Seat in the portica line. I absolutely loved the base, the fabric, the sturdiness of the seat, BUT WHERE IS THE SLACK?????
The only reason that I purchased this seat is my son has almost outgrown his Graco Snugride (the snugride is only rated until 22 lbs and 29 in). I wanted a carseat that would still work with my stroller and that I didn't have to take my sleeping son out of everytime we went somewhere. I had read reviews that this seat was heavier than the snugride, but I really expected that. What I didn't expect is that I can barely fit my 20 pound 27 3/4 inch baby into this safeseat that is supposed to fit a child up to 30 pounds and 32 inches!
We followed the instructions for loosening the belt, the belt was only on the center (not even the top) and it is still TOO TIGHT! I can barely get my son in there (and it is summer so he doesn't even have layers of clothing on!). There is no way that we could use this seat with the belt on the top setting!
We switched back to our snugride (which he can still use because he is only 20 pounds and 27 3/4 inches-plenty of slack). I contacted Graco, they did not have a "fix" for this issue. They are going to send me a shipping label and I will return this seat to them for a refund.
Save your money! It is not worth buying this seat. It is heavier than a snugride, more money, and you won't be able to use it any longer than a snugride because of the seatbelt issue (NO SLACK).

My daughter has used this car seat about 10-20 times in her first six months, as we live in New York and use a car infrequently for longer out-of-town trips. It was fine for the first month or two, but our daughter is pretty big, and soon it became too tight for her. The shoulder straps are very difficult to figure out, and appear not to expand too much, so once your child is 15-20 pounds, it can be very difficult for her to fit comfortably. Aside from the size issue, it's very comfortable and soft, with a nice canopy. It's not too heavy, but feels very safe. Using the seat alone took several minutes every time and we never felt it was as secure as it should have been. This base is easy to install and use. The instructions were a little obtuse, though not bad, and the design of the base made it easy to get the belt through the correct spots and secure. The drawings were helpful. I almost did not buy a travel system because I was looking at a more versatile carseat, but my friends who have children talked me into buying this, and I am so glad they did. My son loves his carseat, he falls asleep in it all the time and I have never had a problem with his head getting cranked to the side like I have seen with some other carseats when the baby falls asleep. He has fit into it just fine, from coming home from the hospital to now, and he is almost 4 months and 16 lbs. It is a little heavy at first, but you get used to it once you get your buff "mom arms." The stroller is solid and had lots of little comparments to put your stuff in, like a sunglasses holder and we use the cup holders everytime. Underneath there is plenty of room for the diaper bag as well as shopping bags. The seat snaps right into the stroller and I honestly don't know what people who say it is not secure are talking about. So far, this booster works fine. My 3 year old likes it and it keeps the seat belt positioned correctly. We bought this to add to our 3 car seats. We have 1 in each of our 2 cars for our 15 month old (she inherited one of his car seats), and needed the booster so we would have one in each car for our son.

We have had a problem with him getting out of the seat belt while driving but that is not a malfunction of the booster, just training our child to not take his arm out of the shoulder belt while the car is moving. I absolutely love this car seat. I had this one already in the Graco G fabric from Babies R Us, and wanted a second one for my husbands truck. I was going to just buy a cheaper seat for the second vehicle, but I am just to spoiled by my first one that I just had to have another. I had a gift card for Amazon so I decided to go ahead and use it to buy the other one. The fabric on this car seat is very nice and we just love the reclining option. It is so easy that you can do it from the drivers seat when they decide to doze in the middle of a trip(be sure to be at a red light or at a stop before reclining, lol). For the money it is the best seat out there. I have looked at many seats and had my daughter in them all in the store trying them out until I found this one. She never really complains about being in the car seat and she falls asleep almost instantly when we go for a ride in it.

The seat alone is a definite 5 out of 5. The reason I give the seat a 4 out of 5 is for the shipping alone. The only thing bad that I can say about ording it online is that no matter whom you order it from, the original box is what it gets shipped in. It is not really the kind of box that can handle a beating in the mail. When I got the seat, it was scratched abit on the base, but nothing that would be damaging to the safty of the seat itself. The box on the other hand looked like it had just fought a war, but the seat itself was fine. If anything, you just return it and have them ship you a new one. I am a first time mom and I learned very quickly that the big travel systems are nice but are heavy and use much needed energy. This frame is a gift sent from the heavens it is super lightweight and the storage bin is a very good size. Opening and closing the frame is pretty easy although I am unable to close it with one hand my husband can do it very easy. I ordered this carseat for my baby when I was expecting because it just seemed the smart thing to do with babies coming into this world at 8+ lbs and 19"+ long! Well our little boy came into this world weighing 7.06 lbs and measuring 20" long! Most rear facing carseats only go up to 22 lbs and 22" long, so this was definitely a wise choice. He's only 13 days old and we have used the carseat on 3 occassions and so far so good! It's spacious enough so that he doesn't feel cramped or confined once buckled in. The downfall to that is that his head bobs a bit too much for me because the infant insert is still a little too big. We purchased an additional head support piece (not Graco) to resolve this issue. It works well... He was awake when he was placed in it the second time and he cried a bit but calmed down after he was all tucked in. The other times he was asleep and remained sleeping... The carrier is easy enough to remove from the base which is a huge plus. The colors are rich looking with a baby feel (the green), and can work for either boy or girl (I didn't know what I was having when I ordered it)...The straps are easy enough to adjust once you read the instructions. To date the carrier is not too heavy, but that may change once he puts on some pounds... Overall I love this carseat so far... This is the absolute best stroller that I have ever used (and we have used a lot). Compared to our other heavy, bulky Peg Perego Venezia, this stroller is a dream. It is easy to assemble out of the box and ready to use. It is so simple to open and close and the latch keeps it closed so it can even stand up on the floor while closed. It is light and fits easily into the trunk of our small sedan. I couldn't fit an entire load of groceries in the trunk while the stroller is in there....but why would I bring the stroller to the grocery store?! It is narrow, and easy to pick up with one hand. The large, rubber, puncture proof wheels are awesome - we have walked through mud, and puddles and all over the place with no problems. It is like pushing nothing at all - totally effortless. The basket is large, the cups are great. It has 3 reclining positions which is very useful for an on the go nap, or diaper change. The 5 point harness is useful and actually works, unlike the Peg Perego Aria which slips out easily.

My mom who is 5'4" loved the position of the handles too, very comfortable! I also just flew for the first time with my 8 week old daughter and we brought the stroller, it was perfect. Light weight, folds up neatly, and you can collapse it with one hand (other hand holding the baby!) It was easy to put together when it arrived (5 minutes and done). This is a great idea but it does NOT 'fit' the Peg Perego Primo Viaggio as advertised. Unless you are happy with your carseat just sitting in the stroller that is! I paid a lot of money for a carseat with side impact protection so having it just rest on there was not for me. There is a cheesy belt that comes with to 'secure' it. We recently purchased the Chicco Keyfit 30 after doing much research for our third child. I am a certified car seat technician and have installed a ton of infant carriers and bases. A consistent problem that I see is that most kids these days out grow their infant carrier well before they turn 1 year of age and 20 lbs, thus the parents have to resort to a bulky convertible car seat. This car seat gives you the flexibility to have your child stay in the infant carrier until they are 30lbs or out grow the seat due to their length.
