I picked this infant seat for a few reasons:

It is lightweight, only 7 lbs itself w/ out base,( and baby)

It has the EPS foam lining the seat between the plastic and the fabric baby sits on.

The fabrics used are easy to clean and are the colors I was looking for, Black, and Beige orange accent color. There is a velvet fabric in beige that is super soft!

It comes with a removable foot cover which will be great in the winter months or when going to the park in the stroller.

It also comes with removable shoulder strap covers (to lessen the irritation of the straps) and removable head support all which you can throw in the washer and clean if need be.

The canopy is a little flimsy but also removable, and it has a peep hole in the top so you can see the baby through it from the top.

The base it comes with is super easy to install took husband 5 mins, onces he read through the instructions, they make it very clear if it is installed correctly or not..

This seat has lasted until 7 months, and would go a little longer. My son is about 20 pounds, but is growing out of the height range. I have been very happy with this car seat! The pads wash very well, even after spit-ups and diaper blow-outs. You would never know to look at the pads. It clicks into the base easily and is very simple to install. A t the hospital they preferred this one because it lays newborns back a little more. remember to take the newborn insert out when your child reaches the appropriate size, and adjust the strap heights. This is VERY easy to do.

This car seat is heavy and I almost never carry him in it. I don't know how it compares to other seats, but add a 10-20 pound baby and it's too much for me. I use a Maclaren Easy Traveller (much recommended over the coordinating Chicco travel system strollers) to get him everywhere. Put the seat in the frame, put the baby in, and go. The only time I lift the seat is to get it from the stroller frame inside the car.

I have this same seat in a different color and loved it. My daughter is 19mos and just transitioned out of it last month b/c the height and weight limits go so high. She now has a Radian 65 seat which I highly recommend as a great second seat.

I had the snugrides for my boys when they were babies but they only could use the seat for 4-6mos tops b/c they are big boys. I had thought about getting a Radian for my daughter's first seat, but I wanted something portable and the Radian does not come out as it does not have a handle.

The safeseat was a great compromise. It lasted a year and a half and in the meantime, I could save up for the Radian 65. I'm for extended rear facing til 35lbs and this seat made it very easy as it doesn't press babies legs up against the seat. The Safeseat is a bit heavier than the snugride, but the safeseat lasts longer. Also with the base, there is no way you could improperly install it. Great seat, great purchase. We were swayed by the height and weight limit for this car seat as our previous two children both grew out of the other one by the time they were one. So, we decided to go with this one since it claims it will accomodate an infant up to 30/32. The problem is with the leveling system...if you adhere to the guidelines the baby's head is tilted with the chin ending up in their chest which inhibits their ability to breathe. Also, it doesn't necessarily accomodate a smaller newborn...our daughter was 6 lbs, 8 oz and 19" long and these straps barely have the ability to tighten enough to be snugly safe. If we had the money we would go back to buying an Eddie Bauer model like we had with our two older children. We wish we'd kept the other one, but this was a surprise baby and we had already donated the other to a needy family.

Also, the car seat does not latch in a shopping cart and therefore has to be placed in the largest part of the cart for safety reasons which makes shopping for more than a couple of things virtually impossible.

This is a beautiful carseat. I purchased the Graco Safe Seat in the portica line. I absolutely loved the base, the fabric, the sturdiness of the seat, BUT WHERE IS THE SLACK?????
The only reason that I purchased this seat is my son has almost outgrown his Graco Snugride (the snugride is only rated until 22 lbs and 29 in). I wanted a carseat that would still work with my stroller and that I didn't have to take my sleeping son out of everytime we went somewhere. I had read reviews that this seat was heavier than the snugride, but I really expected that. What I didn't expect is that I can barely fit my 20 pound 27 3/4 inch baby into this safeseat that is supposed to fit a child up to 30 pounds and 32 inches!
We followed the instructions for loosening the belt, the belt was only on the center (not even the top) and it is still TOO TIGHT! I can barely get my son in there (and it is summer so he doesn't even have layers of clothing on!). There is no way that we could use this seat with the belt on the top setting!
We switched back to our snugride (which he can still use because he is only 20 pounds and 27 3/4 inches-plenty of slack). I contacted Graco, they did not have a "fix" for this issue. They are going to send me a shipping label and I will return this seat to them for a refund.
Save your money! It is not worth buying this seat. It is heavier than a snugride, more money, and you won't be able to use it any longer than a snugride because of the seatbelt issue (NO SLACK).

I almost did not buy a travel system because I was looking at a more versatile carseat, but my friends who have children talked me into buying this, and I am so glad they did. I absolutely love this car seat. I had this one already in the Graco G fabric from Babies R Us, and wanted a second one for my husbands truck. I was going to just buy a cheaper seat for the second vehicle, but I am just to spoiled by my first one that I just had to have another. I had a gift card for Amazon so I decided to go ahead and use it to buy the other one. The fabric on this car seat is very nice and we just love the reclining option. It is so easy that you can do it from the drivers seat when they decide to doze in the middle of a trip(be sure to be at a red light or at a stop before reclining, lol). For the money it is the best seat out there. I have looked at many seats and had my daughter in them all in the store trying them out until I found this one. She never really complains about being in the car seat and she falls asleep almost instantly when we go for a ride in it.

The seat alone is a definite 5 out of 5. The reason I give the seat a 4 out of 5 is for the shipping alone. The only thing bad that I can say about ording it online is that no matter whom you order it from, the original box is what it gets shipped in. It is not really the kind of box that can handle a beating in the mail. When I got the seat, it was scratched abit on the base, but nothing that would be damaging to the safty of the seat itself. The box on the other hand looked like it had just fought a war, but the seat itself was fine. If anything, you just return it and have them ship you a new one. I ordered this carseat for my baby when I was expecting because it just seemed the smart thing to do with babies coming into this world at 8+ lbs and 19"+ long! Well our little boy came into this world weighing 7.06 lbs and measuring 20" long! Most rear facing carseats only go up to 22 lbs and 22" long, so this was definitely a wise choice. He's only 13 days old and we have used the carseat on 3 occassions and so far so good! It's spacious enough so that he doesn't feel cramped or confined once buckled in. The downfall to that is that his head bobs a bit too much for me because the infant insert is still a little too big. We purchased an additional head support piece (not Graco) to resolve this issue. It works well... He was awake when he was placed in it the second time and he cried a bit but calmed down after he was all tucked in. The other times he was asleep and remained sleeping... The carrier is easy enough to remove from the base which is a huge plus. The colors are rich looking with a baby feel (the green), and can work for either boy or girl (I didn't know what I was having when I ordered it)...The straps are easy enough to adjust once you read the instructions. To date the carrier is not too heavy, but that may change once he puts on some pounds... Overall I love this carseat so far... I contacted Right Start who confirmed that they would exchange the item and sent me a UPS label for return of the item. When the family went to return the item for exchange, they discovered from Right Start that 2 days after my enquiry they went into Chapter 11 bankruptcy. This is the absolute best stroller that I have ever used (and we have used a lot). Compared to our other heavy, bulky Peg Perego Venezia, this stroller is a dream. It is easy to assemble out of the box and ready to use. It is so simple to open and close and the latch keeps it closed so it can even stand up on the floor while closed. It is light and fits easily into the trunk of our small sedan. I couldn't fit an entire load of groceries in the trunk while the stroller is in there....but why would I bring the stroller to the grocery store?! It is narrow, and easy to pick up with one hand. The large, rubber, puncture proof wheels are awesome - we have walked through mud, and puddles and all over the place with no problems. It is like pushing nothing at all - totally effortless. The basket is large, the cups are great. It has 3 reclining positions which is very useful for an on the go nap, or diaper change. The 5 point harness is useful and actually works, unlike the Peg Perego Aria which slips out easily.

Overall, this stroller is a must. We use it every day, for walking outside (several miles a day) and at the mall, and the beach, etc. If you have been dissatisfied with other strollers, this is the one to get.Buy Graco MetroLite Stroller, Soho!

****The Graco Mosaic Stroller in Ionic, is really a great stroller! I am 6' tall and my husband 6'4" and the handles are the perfect height for us. My mom who is 5'4" loved the position of the handles too, very comfortable! I also just flew for the first time with my 8 week old daughter and we brought the stroller, it was perfect. Light weight, folds up neatly, and you can collapse it with one hand (other hand holding the baby!) It was easy to put together when it arrived (5 minutes and done). The color is great too, I have the matching car seat and it fits in nicely onto the stroller (its very secure). I recommend this stroller to anyone who is searching for one. This is a great idea but it does NOT 'fit' the Peg Perego Primo Viaggio as advertised. Unless you are happy with your carseat just sitting in the stroller that is! I paid a lot of money for a carseat with side impact protection so having it just rest on there was not for me. There is a cheesy belt that comes with to 'secure' it. We recently purchased the Chicco Keyfit 30 after doing much research for our third child. I am a certified car seat technician and have installed a ton of infant carriers and bases. A consistent problem that I see is that most kids these days out grow their infant carrier well before they turn 1 year of age and 20 lbs, thus the parents have to resort to a bulky convertible car seat. This car seat gives you the flexibility to have your child stay in the infant carrier until they are 30lbs or out grow the seat due to their length. This is by far the easiest base that I have ever installed. I installed the base in one vehicle using a seatbelt and the 2nd base in the other vehicle using LATCH. Both installations took less than five minutes, this base makes it so easy. I would definitely recommend this car seat and base. You definitely get what you pay for; this is the best investment in infant carriers and bases. It also makes it convenient that it can be used with the Chicco Stroller. No matter what type of car seat you choose, always have a certified car seat technician assist you with the installation. Over 90% of car seat installations have a misuse or improper installation.
